Empowering
Lives, One Man
At A Time
The foundation of MEEC is built on a lifelong commitment to service and leadership. Our founder and President, Vincent Harlston, brings his multi-faceted experience as an educator, mentor, author, and media company owner to the heart of this organization.
What started as a vision to empower men has grown into a comprehensive community engine. Through Vincent’s leadership and the tireless work of our dedicated volunteers and staff, MEEC continues to expand its reach. We also give special acknowledgment to Vincent’s wife, whose unwavering belief in this mission has been a cornerstone of our success. Together, we aren’t just discussing change—we are hosting the events and funding the futures that make it a reality.
Through our expansion, Men’s Empowerment Enterprise Chicago (MEEC) has cultivated a unique space where community needs meet compassionate action. We believe in more than just programs; we believe in a proven blueprint for transformation. By surrounding our participants with a positive network of mentors and peers, we open doors to opportunities they may have once thought were out of reach.
Our work is driven by a deep, ongoing commitment to see every individual thrive. Whether it is through the financial support of the MEEC Youth Fund, the raw and honest dialogue of our “Let’s Talk” sessions, or our hands-on outreach to the homeless, we are here to walk alongside our community every step of the way.
Vincent’s dedication to service is evident in his extensive community involvement. He has volunteered with organizations such as the Chicago White Sox Volunteer Corps and the Midlothian Community Police and Safety Committee. He is also an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists (Chicago Chapter) and a board member of Frontline Favor Ministries. His passion for mentoring led him to volunteer with the Dream Academy and establish Men’s Empowerment Enterprise Chicago, a nonprofit focused on uplifting and supporting homeless men and male youth. Under his leadership, the organization has provided scholarships to CVS seniors and hosted mentorship programs, tutoring, and annual men’s seminars.

What They See Is What They'll Be ®
“What They See Is What They’ll Be®”is more than a motto. It is a source of motivation for all members in our 100 Black Men chapter network. Additionally, our motto serves as a constant reminder that we must consistently commit ourselves to personifying the type of people our children will look up to and emulate. We fully embrace the immense responsibility we have to our mentees and our communities.
